SEVEN WINES FOR SEVEN WINERIES
The
La
Giannettola
winery
in
Velletri
makes
wine
under
the
"Roma"
DOC,
one
of
the
latest
in
the
intricate
panorama
of
Italian
appellations.
Paolo
Martella,
descendant
of
a
family
of
winemakers,
has
recently
started
making
wine
from
the
best
grapes
produced
on
the
vast
estate
of
over
50
hectares.
Thus
was
born
Roma
DOC
Ardente
2017
from
Montepulciano,
Syrah
and
Merlot
grapes
vinified
in
steel
at
low
temperature.
A
wine
with
intense
fruity
aromas
teased
by
the
note
of
pepper
and
liquorice.
In
the
mouth
it
is
full,
soft
and
warm
with
hints
of
ripe
red
fruit
ending with hints of carob. Great pleasure and drinkability.
LA GIANNETTOLA: A RISING STAR AMONG THE ROMAN CASTLES
There
is
a
family,
which
is
divided
between
the
Castelli
Romani
and
the
capital
Rome,
guardian
of
a
great
history
that
sees
in
La
Giannettola
,
a
newly
born
winery,
the
symbol
of
liberation
and
the
realization
of
a
will.
Heir
to
a
brave
warrior,
Paolo
Martella
leads
a
company
of
150
hectares
of
which
sixty
are
dedicated
to
the
production
of
grapes.
There
is
a
white
tower
built
in
1945
on
top
of
the
hill
overlooking
the
estate
-
and
up
there,
such
a
breeze
stands
out
-
of
such
impact
that
it
is
impossible
not
to
dedicate
a
wine
to
it:
white,
so
savory
and
so
sunny.
A
pur
jus
born
with
constant
wind
protection.
2017
is
the
first
vintage
bottled
"under
a lucky star".
CHIARA RISOLO: SUMMER IN WHITE (Panorama 8 July 2020)
Monsieur
Chardonnay.
«The
king
of
international
grape
varieties.
Italy
has
it
in
abundance»
says
the
oenologist.
Even
in
unexpected
places…
».
An
excellent
Chardonnay
is
also
drunk
in
Lazio.
In
Velletri,
a
leap
from
Rome,
the
Martella
family,
at the helm of
La Giannettola
, produces
La Brezza
.
Soft,
creamy
in
the
mouth,
with
a
slight
acid
vein.
White
flowers,
ripe
banana
and
peach stand out.
